Snack Pack

I've taken Jack to the playground before, but he didn't seem to enjoy it. I finally figured out what the problem was. Jack and I were going during the day while Eric worked, so it was just the 2 of us. We went down slides, which he liked, but he wouldn't really try anything else. A couple of days ago, we decided to take Jack over to the park again (we have 3 practically in our backyard), hoping to get him really tired so he would sleep well. He had so much more fun this time with both of us there.
Excuse the dirty shirt. That's what happens when Jack feeds himself pudding.

Jack is growing up so fast. He tries to say lots of words, but I'm not sure how many are decipherable by people besides Eric and I. He says the usual (dad, hi, bye, wow) and has added um..., weeee!, mine, car, bite, dog, what's that, he says mama a little more often, and has tried to say Jack and Addie (Addie just kind of sounds like eye). He loves to head butt, to give kisses to Addie (at least I think they're kisses, sometimes it kind of just seems like he's spitting), and to give hugs. He has added a new dance move to his repertoire. Actually, I'm not sure if you can call it a dance move. Its basically lip syncing. Its pretty funny since he can't actually say any of the words that he's syncing to.

PS. I guess its obvious, we got a new camera! Thank you everyone for your suggestions. We decided to get a Canon Rebel XT. We love it. It doesn't have video capabilities, but we love the pictures it takes.

Lots of Nothing

We've had requests for Eric and I to appear on the blog more often, especially since I have this massive baby bump to show off that gets bigger by the day. However, I'm sad (and a little embarrassed) to report....I broke our camera. Therefore, we are currently in the market for a new one. We have our eye on a couple, but its hard to bite the bullet and actually spend the money. If you have suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them.

In other news, Jack has started going to nursery!! We're so excited to finally be able to participate in all of church again. He doesn't really love it yet, but it gets progressively better each week. He finished his very first swim lessons last week. We went to a mom and me class for 2 weeks. It was fun to watch him try all the things they asked him to do, but he mostly just looked and them and said yeah, and then didn't do anything. I don't think we'll be going back for the next session. Maybe next year.

Eric has been working really hard on the 8th street house. Its looking really good! Part of me is tempted to just move in there when he's done, but its not quite big enough. We'll put pictures of the finished product on, but not yet. Eric is dying to get the house done so he can have a break. If he's not inspecting houses, or working on appraisals, he's working on the 8th street house. He can't wait until he's able to wake up on a Saturday (without an alarm) and do whatever he wants. He'd love to start cycling again, but it hasn't happened yet.

I'm constantly growing. I wake up some mornings and am surprised at how big I've gotten because I swear it happened over night. Addie is one busy baby. She kicks constantly. I love it, even though sometimes it hurts. Her favorite spot is up in my ribs.

That's it for us!

What a weekend!

Here's the run down: Friday we went to Eric's Grandma's house. We had so much fun hanging out with family (Eric's Aunt and Uncle and cousins came up from Sandy, UT), eating (I did a lot of that), and shooting fireworks. They spent just about all day shooting fireworks, including some really great finale type sky shows. They finished up all of their stuff just in time for us to go out to the back porch and watch the show that the city puts on. Grandma's house is up on a hill, so while taking in the city's fireworks we also saw the fireworks from everyone else in the city doing their own stuff. It was pretty amazing!

Saturday we went up to Grandma's trailer. The weather was nice, and the food and company were great. Grandma had a few things that she was hoping to get done up there, and everyone chipped in. I have to admit that I wasn't really helpful. I mostly talked and watched Jack, but everyone else managed to clean the trailer, chop and move wood, and patch up holes. That night the Willits (my sister and her family) came up to our house. We did more fireworks in the backyard. I think the boys really loved it.

Sunday, we drove back up to the trailer (Grandma was kind enough to let us invite the Willits) bright and early. Okay, not that early. We got there at about 9. We wanted to make sure we were able to take advantage of the whole day. We didn't plan anything for Sunday, we just let the boys play and explore. Eric and Brad preferred to occupy themselves by chopping and stacking wood. It seems really odd to me that's what they call 'fun', but I've been informed...it's a guy thing. Carrie read her book, I relaxed by the fire, and the little ones (Colson, 3, Griffin, 17 months, and Jack, 18 months) did anything they could think of. There was a lot of playing in the dirt, and getting too close to things that made their moms nervous.

Monday we went to the waterfalls and to Bald Mountain point. While roasting our hot dogs around the fire 2 deer walked up headed for the stream to get a drink. We accidentally scared them off, but it was fun to see them so close. We headed back to our house in the early evening. I think everyone was ready. The boys were all tired out to the point that we witnessed far more tantrums than we had ever seen in our lives, and at least 2 of them fell asleep in the cars on the short trip back to our house.

Although we needed the rest of Monday night to recuperate, we had a blast this weekend. Thank you to all of you for making it so much fun for our little family!

I'm an Aunt...again!!

My sister, Kjirsten, just had her 5th baby! Claire Marie was born on the 27th, and we're just getting to see pictures for the first time. It was worth the wait! She's adorable. We're so excited to have another cousin! Welcome to the Asay clan Claire!!
